1. Get clear on your goals

Before you can start posting consistently on social, it’s important that you clearly identify your social media goals. Without having defined goals, you won’t know what you are working toward, thus making it impossible to create any sort of strategy or consistency in your posting. Write out at least 3 keys goals that you want to achieve through social media. Ensure that your goals are S.M.A.R.T that is, Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely. For example, Increase reach is NOT a smart goal, however, increase reach by 30% over the next 3 months is. Take the time and set SMART goals for yourself.

2. Outline a strategy

Once you have defined your social media goals, you can craft a social media strategy. This is essentially a road map for how you plan to achieve each of your specific goals. You’ll decide which platforms you’ll use (eg. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, YouTube etc), how many times per week you will post, which influencers you would like to work with and what type of content you will create. Having a strategy behind what you are posting is imperative for ensuring you remain consistent and that each post has a purpose.

3. Create a content calendar

A content calendar will give you a breakdown of what you’ll post on your social media platforms each day of the month. Planning out your content over a month will ensure that you to remain consistent. It will take the guess work and stress out of trying to think about what to share each day. This not only saves you time and heartache, it also makes sure that each of your posts are properly thought out and working toward achieving your bigger picture goals. Set aside one day each month to sit down and plan out your content calendar. Your future self will thank you!

4. Schedule your posts

Once you have a completed your content calendar, you can now schedule your posts. Set aside a few hours to schedule out your content for the next week or month. This step will save you an enormous amount of time and make certain that your social media content is being posted consistently. Facebook and Twitter have their own scheduling tools built into the platform. Alternatively, you can use tools like Buffer, Hootsuite and CoSchedule which allow you to schedule posts in advance for Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Linked In. Most of these tools have free versions are are simple to use.

Posting consistently is imperative for remaining competitive online. By implementing the above 4 tips you’ll be amazed and how much simpler and effective your social media marketing will be!
