7 Habits of Highly Successful #Girlbosses

In my humble opinion, the title of girl boss isn’t just reserved for women who run businesses or manage a team of people. A girl boss is a woman who dominates at life. She is independent, hard-working and has a great attitude. She lives her life by design not default and is committed to fulfilling her full potential and chasing her dreams. I see so many women doubting themselves and their abilities and as a result, go through life playing it small. Well the good news is that there are some habits that we can practice each day to help us unleash our inner Beyoncé and channel our full potential. So, without further ado, read on to learn the 7 habits of highly successful #girlbosses.

1. Healthy Diet & Exercise

Every girl boss knows that a healthy body leads to a healthy life. Taking care of your body by following a healthy diet and exercising regularly will allow you to perform to your maximum capacity. Now, I’m not telling you that you can never have a glass of wine or the occasional chocolate bar. Let’s be real, we’d all go a little crazy if we deprived ourselves completely, but just keep it in moderation. Not only will you have more energy but you’ll feel better both physically and mentally.

2. Practice Gratitude

As Tony Robbins says “When you are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears”. Simply writing out three things you are grateful for each day will instantly make you feel good and put you in positive mindset. Additional benefits of practising daily gratitude include reduced stress levels, increased overall happiness and self-satisfaction and increased inspiration and creativity.

3. Compliment Other Women

Not only will this give someone a confidence boost but it will also make you feel good. This world needs more of women building each other up and less bitching and tearing one another down. Successful women know that complementing other women will not take away from their own achievements but instead, help to promote positivity and spread kindness. So the next time you see a sister killing it at life, be sure to let her know!

4. Meditation

No, meditation is not just a practice reserved for monks and hippies. Meditation has so many amazing benefits for the mind and body including, reducing stress and anxiety, enhancing self-awareness, lengthening attention span and improving sleep. You don’t have to commit to 30 minutes or an hour each day. Just start out with 5 or 10 minutes. Apps like Headspace make it so easy and are perfect for beginners. Practising meditation each morning will allow you to start your day feeling grounded, confident and ready to take on the world!

5. Plan Ahead

Everyone knows the age old saying ‘failing to plan is planning to fail’. This is why successful girl bosses know that taking time to plan is never time wasted. Planning out your long-term goals and then breaking these down in monthly, weekly and daily to-dos will make sure you stay on track, remain productive and actually get stuff done! I like to organise my tasks digitally using trello but pen and paper work just as well, so sit down, get clear on your goals and start writing.

6. Learn often

Successful girl bosses know the importance of ongoing learning and in this technological age, we have been blessed with so many amazing ways to consume content. Audio books and podcasts some of my favourite mediums as it’s so easy to learn on the go. YouTube, blogs and online courses are also great resources for learning.

7. Schedule “me” time

Last but certainly not least, successful girl bosses know that without taking time for rest and relaxation they won’t perform to their maximum capacity. Scheduling “me” time is crucial for maintaining a positive mindset and minimising burn out. Whether it’s booking in for a massage, going for a walk or getting coffee with a friend, be sure to make time for yourself. You’ll come back to your projects feeling rested, inspired and ready to kick some butt!
